Technical Claims Handler – Colchester Hybrid

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Claims Handler to join their growing Motor Claims team in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Motor Claims Handler looking to progress their career within a dynamic and customer-focused insurance environment.

As a Technical Claims Handler, you will manage your own portfolio of complex and technical motor insurance claims, including third-party property damage, credit hire claims, personal injury claims, repair claims, total loss claims, technical referrals and client-specific claims processes.

You will be responsible for delivering fair, accurate and commercially sound claims outcomes while providing a high standard of customer service to customers, insurers, suppliers, repairers and business partners.

Key Responsibilities of a Technical Claims Handler

• Manage a dedicated caseload of motor insurance claims, from initial notification through to resolution.
• Handle technical motor claims, referrals and escalations in line with company and client requirements.
• Manage claims involving third-party property damage, credit hire, personal injury, vehicle repairs and total loss.
• Communicate professionally with customers, insurers, suppliers, repair networks and other claims stakeholders by telephone, email and written correspondence.
• Analyse and assess complex claims information to establish liability, validate claims and achieve fair and accurate outcomes.
• Ensure claims are handled in accordance with relevant motor insurance legislation, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
• Set, review and maintain appropriate financial reserves throughout the claims lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to control motor claims costs while maintaining excellent customer service and appropriate claims outcomes.
• Use modern claims management systems and technology to improve claims processing, efficiency and overall cost control.
• Handle and resolve customer complaints professionally and effectively.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through consistent, professional and high-quality claims handling.
• Support the wider motor claims team through coaching, knowledge sharing and training where required.
• Maintain accurate claims records and ensure all activities are documented in accordance with internal procedures.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as a Motor Claims Handler, Technical Claims Handler, Motor Insurance Claims Handler or Insurance Claims Handler.

Essential Experience

• Previous motor claims handling experience is essential.
• Experience handling or exposure to motor vehicle repair claims.
• Knowledge of credit hire claims and associated claims processes.
• Experience dealing with total loss claims.
• Understanding of third-party property damage claims.
• Experience or exposure to personal injury claims.
• Experience managing technical claims referrals and escalations.
• Previous experience handling customer complaints.
• Strong understanding of claims procedures, legislation and insurance industry best practice.
