Technical Team Manager – MCL / HNW / Property Claims – About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Team Manager – MCL / HNW / Property Claims to lead and develop a high-performing team of field-based claims adjusters across Hertfordshire and the wider UK.

This is a senior claims management and technical leadership opportunity for an experienced Technical Claims Manager, Property Claims Manager, Major Loss Claims Manager or Senior Loss Adjuster with strong expertise in High Net Worth (HNW) claims, Major Complex Loss (MCL), property claims and insurance loss adjusting.

As Technical Team Manager, you will be responsible for driving technical excellence, claims quality, operational performance and exceptional customer service. You will provide technical leadership to field-based adjusters, support complex and high-value claims, manage complaints and ensure consistently high standards across the claims function.

You will act as the technical authority and leadership point for the MCL team, providing expert guidance to adjusters while developing a strong, engaged and performance-focused team culture.

This role is ideal for an experienced Property Claims Adjuster, Major Loss Adjuster, HNW Loss Adjuster or Claims Team Manager looking to take the next step in their insurance claims management career.

Technical Team Manager – MCL / HNW / Property Claims – Key Duties

As a Technical Team Manager – Property Claims, your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, manage and develop a high-performing team of field-based property claims adjusters and loss adjusters.
• Build a motivated, engaged and values-driven claims team culture focused on technical excellence, customer service and continuous improvement.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coaching, mentoring and support to claims adjusters.
• Act as a technical escalation point for Major Loss, Complex Loss, MCL, HNW and high-value property claims.
• Monitor and manage Work in Progress (WIP) to support effective resource planning, claims performance and operational efficiency.
• Monitor team performance against monthly and annual fee, revenue and claims management targets.
• Conduct regular technical audits of claims adjusters and claims files, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring compliance with required standards.
• Champion technical quality, claims accuracy, consistency and continuous improvement across the team.
• Manage and oversee customer complaints, supporting adjusters and ensuring fair, timely and appropriate resolutions.
• Provide expert technical guidance on complex property claims, major losses and high-net-worth insurance claims.
• Keep the team informed of relevant legal, regulatory, insurance market and claims developments through technical updates and bulletins.
• Ensure claims decisions, reports, assessments and recommendations meet appropriate technical and professional standards.
• Produce and review high-quality claims correspondence, reports and technical documentation.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with insurers, insurance brokers, clients, policyholders and key stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver excellent outcomes on individual claims and portfolio losses.
• Support the successful management of large, complex, high-value and technically challenging property claims.
• Promote a consistent focus on customer experience, claims quality and service excellence.

Technical Team Manager – MCL / HNW / Property Claims – Key Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience in a technical claims management, loss adjusting or claims leadership role.
• Strong experience managing, mentoring or technically supporting claims adjusters or loss adjusters.
• Extensive knowledge of property claims, property loss adjusting and insurance claims management.
• Strong technical experience in High Net Worth (HNW) insurance claims.
• Experience handling or overseeing Major Loss Claims (MCL), Major Complex Loss and complex property claims.
• Strong understanding of high-value, complex and large property losses.
• Experience working with insurers, brokers, policyholders and other insurance stakeholders.
• Demonstrable ability to manage claims quality, technical audits, complaints and performance standards.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing WIP, fees, revenue or financial performance targets.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced insurance claims management environment.
• A professional, customer-focused and solutions-driven approach.
• A full, clean and valid UK Driving Licence.

Professional Insurance Qualifications

Progression towards, or completion of, ACILA or FCILA or an equivalent professional claims/loss adjusting qualification is preferred.

Relevant professional experience in loss adjusting, property claims adjusting, major loss claims, complex claims or HNW claims will also be highly valued.

High Net Worth & Property Claims Expertise

The successful Technical Team Manager will have a strong track record within general property loss adjusting and High Net Worth claims.
