Syndicate Actuary - About the role
A qualified actuary required to produce and provide expert review of regular reserving and SII Technical Provisions across a selection of existing syndicates/divisions, which currently includes Casualty, Political Risks and Credit, Treaty (Property, Casualty and Specialist), Cyber and Nuclear.
To provide actuarial expertise and support on projects, meeting the requirements of SII and the wider responsibilities of the Actuarial Function.
To actively contribute to the development and application of technical actuarial models and methods, and to the process of continuous improvement within the department.
Syndicate Actuary - Key duties
Assisting with quarterly reserve reviews for managed syndicates and company market. This will include the provision and review of both year of account and annually accounted figures on a regular basis, and the ongoing improvement of the appropriate models.
Maintenance, enhancement and documentation of appropriate controls and checks for actuarial processes including the incorporation of Solvency II requirements within 'business-as-usual’.
Production, development and enhancement of exhibits and reports to the Board and its Committees.
The jobholder will be proactive in identifying areas where actuarial involvement can add to the performance of a business area.
Project support as required
Providing support to other members of the actuarial department on an ad hoc basis when required.
Syndicate Actuary - Key requirements
Fellow of Institute or Faculty of Actuaries (we may consider exceptional candidates who are near qualification)
General insurance experience
