Subsidence Claims Consultant – About the Role

Are you an experienced Subsidence Claims Consultant, Subsidence Claims Handler, Building Surveyor, Structural Engineer, or Property Claims Professional looking for a rewarding remote insurance claims job?

Our client is seeking an experienced Subsidence Claims Consultant to manage a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence insurance claims from first notification through to settlement. This home-based insurance claims role combines technical expertise, customer service and problem-solving to deliver outstanding claims outcomes.

Working remotely, you'll investigate subsidence, structural movement and building damage claims, using your engineering and construction knowledge to assess liability, determine causation and coordinate repairs. You'll liaise with policyholders, surveyors, structural engineers, contractors and loss adjusters to ensure claims are managed efficiently and professionally.

Subsidence Claims Consultant Responsibilities

As a Subsidence Claims Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence insurance claims from initial notification through to final settlement.
  • Investigating the cause of subsidence, heave, landslip and structural movement using technical evidence and engineering principles.
  • Assessing building damage, reviewing reports and recommending appropriate remedial works.
  • Coordinating site investigations, structural monitoring programmes, repairs and mitigation strategies.
  • Working closely with loss adjusters, structural engineers, building surveyors and contractors throughout the claims lifecycle.
  • Providing exceptional customer service, keeping policyholders informed throughout the insurance claims process.
  • Making fair, accurate and commercially sound claims decisions in line with policy cover and industry best practice.
  • Negotiating with stakeholders to achieve timely, cost-effective and high-quality claims resolutions.
  • Managing workloads effectively while ensuring excellent service standards and regulatory compliance.

Subsidence Claims Consultant Requirements

To be successful in this Subsidence Claims Consultant position, you'll ideally have:

  • A recognised professional qualification such as MICE, MRICS, MCIOB, MIStructE or MCABE, or be actively working towards professional membership. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience handling subsidence insurance claims, property claims, or building damage assessments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of subsidence, structural defects, foundation movement, cracking and property damage.
  • Experience diagnosing structural building damage using photographs, reports and technical evidence.
  • Insurance industry experience with a good understanding of policy coverage, liability and claims handling procedures.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to make sound technical decisions using engineering judgement.
  • Excellent organisation, workload management and prioritisation skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently in a remote working environment.
