Software Developer - Polaris - About the role

Working with Polaris Product Writer Cloud and acting as an integral member of the Software Development Chapter you will develop, implement, and maintain my client’s motor insurance-based products. They provide full technical product ownership including incidents and business as usual change. They actively promote and embrace a culture of continuous improvement and carry out improvement works when identified and required.

Software Developer - Polaris - Key duties

Reporting to the Software Development Lead, your main responsibilities in the role will be to:

Participate in the implementation of continual improvement initiatives which support underlying strategies

Keep actively keep informed of the development technologies, related roadmaps and how new capabilities can be adopted by the development team in delivering product rating change

Implement and deliver relevant coding standards

Implement and execute thorough unit testing and version control

Implement and execute thorough acceptance testing

Ensure solutions are suitably designed with availability, performance, security, and scalability in mind

Participate in agile ceremonies in line with the agreed agile delivery frameworks

Understanding of emerging technologies and innovations and their suitability to business requirements

Working alongside and collaborating with other Software Developers within the Software Development Chapter

Software Developer - Polaris - Key requirements

Experience of delivering technical solutions using the Polaris ProductWriter platform including acceptance testing

Experience of using ProductWriter version control

Experience of TDD (Test Driven Development) practises

An appreciation of CI/CD concepts and using tools such as Jenkins and DevOps Azure

Previous experience of working in a variety of delivery methodologies, specifically in an agile environment (e.g., SCRUM and Kanban)
