Management Accountant  - About the role

 

An excellent opportunity for a (newly) qualified accountant that has gained hands on experience in non-life insurance accounting to take up an exciting new role.  The role, which has much scope for career development, will range from the control of the GL, provision of analysis on data (actuals, forecast and plan) as well as Solvency II and regulatory reporting.

Management Accountant - Key responsibilities:              

Preparation of accurate Management Accounts; Insurance and non-technical reporting, for the senior management team

Own the general ledger data ensuring it is up-to-date to aid internal and external reporting i.e. SMT, PRA, auditors

Produce analysis of variances against budget and forecast, investigating and reporting on any discrepancies

Assisting heavily with the annual budget and interim forecasting, acting as a key finance contact and liaising with underwriting and other key stakeholders to ensure timely completion of the budget and associated board papers

Maintain reinsurance accounts and recoveries

Maintain and improve internal controls and procedures documentation

Help develop the finance systems: control framework; team development and GL enhancements

Preparation of annual financial statements in line with filing deadlines

Be the audit lead working with the external auditors in addressing their audit deliverables and queries ensuring their prompt resolution

Assist in preparation of data for Solvency II reporting

Review the work performed by the team: bank reconciliations, expenses and overhead analysis, cashflow

Management Accountant – Key requirements

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

Minimum 5 years relevant experience in accounting function

Knowledge and experience of UK GAAP and Solvency II for insurance accounting

Excellent knowledge of the Insurance market, the financial and regulatory landscape of the regulatory authority

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel with advanced data extraction, manipulation and analysis skills

Advanced and proven financial, analytical and organisational skills, with attention to detail and a methodical and logical approach.
