Insurance Claims Handler – About the role
My client are recruiting for a technically competent Claims Handler to join their commercial broking team.
This role will suit someone experienced in managing end-to-end commercial claims within a delegated authority (DA) environment, with specific expertise in Property claims and a working knowledge of Motor, EL, and PL. The successful candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of policy wordings, regulatory requirements, and negotiation tactics in handling commercial insurance claims.
Insurance Claims Handler – Key duties
As a Claims Handler, you will play a key role in supporting our clients through the claims journey, ensuring fair outcomes and excellent service. You will manage a varied caseload across multiple lines of business, with an emphasis on agricultural and rural-related claims alongside wider commercial and personal lines.
Claims Handling & Technical Work
Manage claims across a variety of classes, including Motor/Fleet, Property, Employers’/Public Liability, Goods in Transit, and Agricultural risks.
Handle both delegated authority (DA) and non-delegated claims within agreed limits, escalating where required.
Maintain accurate and compliant records across claims systems and diaries.
Negotiation & Resolution
Client Service & Communication
Provide clear, professional, and efficient advice to clients on claims and settlements.
Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring they understand their policy terms and the progress of their claims.
Negotiate with insurers, loss adjusters, and suppliers to secure the best outcomes for clients.
Build strong relationships with brokers, insurers, and supply chain partners to ensure effective claims resolution.
Insurance Claims Handler – Key requirements
Previous experience handling insurance claims (motor, property, liability, or agricultural). Strong organisational and time-management skills. Confident communicator with the ability to manage client expectations. High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Desirable: Experience with Acturis or other claims/broking systems. Progress toward Cert CII / Dip CII / CILA qualifications. Experience handling agricultural claims or working with rural sector clients. Proven negotiation skills with insurers, suppliers, or loss adjusters.
