Deputy Claims Manager - About the role

The Deputy Claims Manager will assist with the general administration within the claims department and the handling of claims from first advice to settlement, including the instruction of surveyors/adjusters and/or lawyers where appropriate, ensuring that the records accurately reflect the current status of each claim. Assist with staff training and development. Deputise for Claims Director when required.

Deputy Claims Manager - Key duties

Develop and apply a thorough knowledge and understanding of the insurance market and underwriting process.

Be familiar with basic policy features, benefits, exclusions and warranties.

Understand and assist with the underwriting process, to include assisting the underwriters in the timely production and distribution of policy documentation, raising invoices/credits, preparing files and statistics and making up new files, as per the Underwriters instructions.

To assist in providing a full and comprehensive service to brokers and assureds including underwriting, servicing, and the preparation of new and renewal business.

Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting system and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written.

Monitor information entered, provide statistical information and prepare reports, when required.

Ensure that customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred where appropriate.

Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.

Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs.

Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customer’s satisfaction.

Deputy Claims Manager - Key requirements

Relevant vendor management or related experience and in dealing with multiple suppliers

Experience successfully working with multiple internal departments and understanding their processes

Proven history of delivering results with external vendors

Proven negotiating skills, influencing abilities and vendor management experience

Experience of working in a matrix team environment and cross functional projects

Experience with operational processes
